Description

Lunafest, Sundance Award Winning film festival dedicated to promoting awareness about women’s issues, highlighting women filmmakers, and bringing women together in their communities, will be hosted by Women of Williamson (WOW) at The Franklin Theatre on March 21st.

This unique film festival highlights women as leaders in society, illustrated through nine short films by women filmmakers. The films range from animated to fictional drama, and cover topics such as women’s health, motherhood, body image, aging, cultural diversity and breaking barriers.

“This gives us the chance to showcase some great films with powerful messages created by women that might not otherwise be seen and to share them with the local community,”said Michele Sliwa, WOW member and producer of the Lunafest event in Franklin.“Our hope is to turn this into an annual event that supports the arts and some great causes that support local women. “You will laugh, cry and cheer during this event!”

Women of Williamson works to empower and improve the lives of women in the community through various initiatives and support for charities throughout the year. Proceeds will benefit the Breast Cancer Fund. For information about Women of Williamson visit www.womenofwilliamson.org
