Singing from the time he could talk and playing the guitar since the age of five, John Oates was destined to be a musician. Born in New York City, his family moved to a small town outside of Philadelphia, PA in the early 1950s. Since then John's life has paralleled the evolution of Rock and American Popular music. He was influenced by the early rock and rhythm and blues artists as well as the nascent roots music of the 1960s folk revival, as well as bluegrass, delta blues, and ragtime. His solo work is an amalgamation of all his early influences as a part of Nashville's Americana Music community. John continues to tour worldwide with an intimate acoustic “Evening of Songs and Stories” style performance that has garnered rave reviews.
