The Franklin Theatre Songwriters Series returns with Rivers Rutherford, Joybeth Taylor, and Rhys Rutherford on June 20! Join us for this special Father's Day installment!
About Rivers Rutherford:
With a name like Rivers Rutherford, it's no surprise this soulful storyteller and recent Nashville Songwriter’s Hall of Famer was destined to become one of music’s most talented and accomplished singer-songwriters. Having grown up in the shadow of Elvis’ Graceland homestead in Memphis, Rutherford came out of the gates swinging at 21 years old, landing his first cut with American legends Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, and Kris Kristofferson (aka The Highwaymen). What followed were a dozen #1 hits, multiple Grammys, CMA and ACM nominations, and over 20 ASCAP awards, including both of the coveted awards for Country Song Of The Year and Songwriter Of The Year, all of which have firmly established Rutherford’s position within the upper echelon of Nashville’s most lauded songwriters. You’ll see Rivers’ name on #1 songs by Tim McGraw, Kenny Chesney, Brad Paisley and Dolly Parton (for the stunning and Grammy-nominated duet “When I Get Where I’m Going”), Rodney Atkins, Montgomery Gentry, Gretchen Wilson, Trace Atkins, and Brooks & Dunn— penning the duo’s most successful single ever “Ain’t Nothin’ ‘Bout You, which spent 6 weeks at #1 and won both Billboard’s and ASCAP’S Song Of The Year. Rivers has also enjoyed success with Country giants the likes of Carrie Underwood, Keith Urban, Lady Antebellum, Reba McEntire, George Jones, Toby Keith, Faith Hill, Hank Williams Jr., Gary Allan, and hosts of others.
About Joybeth Taylor:
Songwriting began at the young age of just seven for Pelham, Alabama native Joybeth Taylor, so it was no surprise when the now 24 year old Taylor packed up all to her name and left the Yellowhammer State in August of 2016. Taylor vastly developed an ability to captivate audience members within Music City by utilizing her organic and real life experiences. After penning over 200 songs a year independently for close to five years, Taylor received and signed her first publishing deal with Verse 2 Music, a joint venutre with Sony Music Publishing in April of 2021. She now has cuts with Elvie Shane, Lauren Alaina, Corey Kent, and Kidd G. She continues to make her mark as one of the purest and well crafted lyricists on Music Row.
About Rhys Rutherford:
Rhys was raised on the music of Tim McGraw, John Prine, and Kris Kristoferson, as well as a mix of '60s and '70s rock. His father is Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame member, Rivers Rutherford. When Rhys decided to pursue music himself, he began to write songs and started a cover band with his friends. After two semesters of college at Ole Miss, he moved back home to Nashville to dive head first into writing full time. After Rhys posted a cover of Ernest's song "Feet Wanna Run" on social media, the breakout country star took notice of the talent, which led to his publishing deal. Since signing in March, Rhys has earned his major label cut with Bailey Zimmerman's "Is This Really Over?" from his record-breaking album Religiously: The Album.
