Description

Jason Nix

Born in Nashville and raised in South Mississippi, Jason Nix grew up on a blend of his musical father’s Bluegrass and his mother’s love of Motown while introducing his own passion for Classic Rock into the mix. It’s no surprise then that his return to Music City just after high school led to the creation of a sound all his own, driven by his strengths as both a guitar player and a lyricist.   In a city filled with starry-eyed artists looking for their big break, Nix rolled up his sleeves and got to work, earning his stripes not only as a big-voiced frontman, but also as a skilled guitarist. He toured with chart-topping artists like Canaan Smith and Chase Rice, playing guitar for both frontmen as their careers exploded.

Jason is an award-winning, in-demand songwriter.  He helped Lainey Wilson on her meteoric rise to the top of female country music with ACM Song of the Year “Things A Man Oughta Know”, ACM awards opener “Hang Tight Honey” and the final song on the Yellowstone series finale, “Straight Up Sideways”.  Jason also has cuts with Eli Young Band, Vince Gill, Darius Rucker, Natalie Hemby, Ariel Posen, Ashley Cooke, Jackson Dean, Flatland Cavalry and more.  Jason has written for many years with Jody Williams Songs, among very good company including Vince Gill, Ashley McBryde, Driver Williams, Peyton Porter and Harper O’Neill.

In 2025, Jason re-established himself a must-hear artist himself, with local, national and international performances and new songs including his brand-new release “Rain Never Shines.”  Jason is once again touring and is gaining attention as not only a songwriter/artist but also a performer.

While Jason is as dedicated a writer and supporter of the art as you will ever meet, his true passion comes from his family and friends.  He is unapologetic about spending time with son and supporting friends and peers as they grow and develop.

Jason’s recent exploration into the social media is both entertaining and uncomfortable.  But he is comfortable on stage, or at least as comfortable as Jason gets.   Jason makes his debut, full band showcase appearance at Franklin, Tennessee’s iconic theatre, Franklin Theatre on Sunday, June 29, 2025.  This is a year that many believe will propel Jason into the next level.

Nashville Basement Stage

Nashville Basement Stage is a private organization supporting Nashville area independent artists.  Their mission is to 'find the others’ - patrons willing to provide meaningful financial or other support to independent artists. When COVID and the Nashville tornados shut down live music venues, NBS hosted house concerts for independent artists. Since then, they have funded not only shows, but also studio sessions, writers retreats, EP/Album releases, videos, artist expenses and more.

In 2024, NBS developed an artist roster and expanded into the Nashville area’s most respected listening venues. They also added industry advisors, VIP patrons and ‘others’.  In 2025, NBS continued this expansion with non-profit artist and community services, instrument and event space sponsorships, media and photography partnerships, and sponsorships of independent radio – all while continuing to host shows at Nashville’s most iconic listening venues.   NBS has a monthly show at Turk’s Lounge – a new listening venue attempting to bring back ‘Nashville the way it used to be’.  Nashville Basement Stage events and artists are fast becoming highly sought-after by venues and the listening community.

Any funding and proceeds from events goes directly to the artists with no restrictions or contracts, so that the independent artists can showcase their talents and continue doing what they love.

Jason Nix is on the artist roster of NBS.  As an artist advisor, Jason has performed several NBS shows and they are the presenting sponsor in his debut, full band showcase at Franklin Theatre on Sunday, June 29, 2025.
