GRAMMY® winner and reigning two-time IBMA Guitar Player of the Year Trey Hensley has been called a “musical phenom” by NPR, “a guitar-slinging superhero” by Bluegrass Today, “Nashville’s hottest young player" by Acoustic Guitar magazine, and “the Swiss Army knife of roots music” by WMOT Radio’s Craig Havighurst.

Hensley’s artistry has received high praise from the likes of Merle Haggard and Marty Stuart. An Eric Clapton’s Crossroads Guitar Festival invitee who has collaborated with Johnny Cash, Vince Gill, Dolly Parton, Taj Mahal and Tommy Emmanuel, Hensley is known for his other-worldly guitar playing, jaw-dropping musicianship and soulful storytelling. Having recently announced his signature guitar with Taylor Guitars: The Trey Hensley Gold Label 510e, Hensley is set to release a new album, Can’t Outrun The Blues, on March 6, 2026. The title cut has spent multiple weeks at #1 on the bluegrass charts.

Tennessee WoodPile is a bluegrass band from Franklin, TN. They are rooted in tradition and driven by a love for great stories in song. Deeply inspired by the timeless sounds of The Stanley BrothersFlatt and ScruggsDel McCoury, and Larry Sparks, the band honors classic bluegrass while keeping the music vibrant and alive for today’s audiences.

 

Alongside those roots, Tennessee WoodPile embraces the modern edge of bluegrass, drawing influence from artists like Billy StringsMissy RainesAppalachian Road Show, and Po’ Ramblin’ Boys. Curating songs from this new era that have a sound that feels both timeless and current—traditional bluegrass songs with modern flare.

 

A hallmark of the WoodPile show is their creative bluegrass re-imagining of Americana and country songwriting, including the music of Merle HaggardSteve Earle, and Townes Van Zandt, delivered with driving rhythms, tight harmonies, and timely pickin.
