Braison Cyrus is a Nashville-based songwriter, producer, and artist who tells his story through lyrically-driven songs shaped by an alternative-country and modern folk sensibility. Though born into one of music’s most recognizable families, Cyrus has carved a path that is entirely his own – introspective, emotionally honest and quietly resonant. Born in 1994 and raised in Tennessee, Cyrus is the son of musician Billy Ray Cyrus and producer Tish Cyrus, and the younger brother of Miley Cyrus.
Music was always present, but not always the plan. When his family moved to Los Angeles in 2006 Cyrus initially pursued film, before ultimately returning to Nashville, drawn back by the city’s rich musical heritage. He began behind the scenes, writing and producing for others, including sister Noah Cyrus and Fleet Foxes, before stepping into the spotlight himself with 2018’s I’ll Never Leave You. The single premiered on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon and The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, offering a first glimpse at a voice defined by craft, restraint, and emotional clarity. His first full-length album, Javelina (2021), introduced his signature sound, rooted in textured and slightly alternative Americana paired with thoughtful storytelling. Sputnikmusic described it as “an unexpectedly brilliant debut,” and noting that the album "possesses a rough-around-edges folk-rock feel," setting it apart from the pop-country legacy of his last name. In 2025, Cyrus returns with From Now On, an intimate, self-produced album that marks a turning point in both his creative and personal life. Written and recorded in a modest Nashville studio owned by close friend Ben Cramer (Old Sea Brigade) and co-engineered with 22-year-old Ryan Rasmussen.
The limitations of the space, where songs were sometimes tracked one instrument at a time, pushed Cyrus to grow not only as a songwriter, but as a producer, collaborator, and storyteller. “This album changed me before anyone else even heard it. It taught me how to be a better partner, a better artist, a better friend. It’s who I will be – From Now On.” Each track examines a different kind of relationship: romantic, familial, platonic, even the one we have with a memory or a place. Woven together, they form a cohesive narrative about growth, commitment, and the quiet courage it takes to keep showing up for our people and the work that we love. The album features six collaborations, bringing together artists Cyrus has long admired with those closest to him. Guests include Tyler Ramsdell of Band of Horses, folk collective Birdtalker (with whom Cyrus toured in 2018), rising French artist Clue, Ciera Londi, and his sisters Noah and Miley Cyrus. The result is a communal, emotionally textured album that feels expansive yet cohesive. From Now On isn’t just the name of the album, it’s a vow. A commitment to love, the work, and to showing up.
